One often hears how things were so much better in the old days, but it isn’t true with everything.  Today, while I was browsing through UpsideOver, I found the Astral Otter kids’ PFD – comfy, safe and environmentally friendly. Wow! What an improvement! It brought me back to a beautiful summer morning many years ago.  My family and I were camping at the side of a loon filled fishing lake and this special morning my dad decided that I could go early morning fishing with him. I was only about 4 years old but I totally remember the pinching of the old heavy life-preserver.  I can still hear the sound of the old Johnson outboard motor being started up and smell the smell of the gas as well as the discomfort of the life jacket.
