I think it’s finally time for me to listen to the experts.  I was just reading Cesar (the dog whisperer) Millan’s latest book and he strongly reiterates his recommendation to use a backpack for a dog that is not getting enough exercise. I have to admit that we’ve been falling down on the job lately due to tack of time.  I know it’s hard for our dog, Aero, to get only a short walk in the morning and be stuck in the house all day while we’re at work.  I’ve been looking at different backpacks for dogs and I think I found the best one for her.  It’s called the Ruff Wear Approach Pack. It looks very nice and from what’s being said about it, it seem very well made and comfortable.  The harness has a great suspension system with a breast collar design that makes the pack stay in place and not slide around and it has padded belly straps.  It has a strong D-ring that we can attach her leash to and it even has a handle so we can haul her out of tight situations should the need arise. It’s also water resistant which is great because it rains a lot here in Vancouver.   I hope it helps her to expend more energy on her walks so she won’t be so rambunctious in the house.  This pack will be a great addition to our hiking camping gear, too.  When we go on overnight hikes, we can pack dog food and water in her very own backpack.   Now when we get our hiking camping gear ready to go, we’ll have two piles - equipment for her camping and equipment for our camping.  How, fun.  It’s like having a kid.  But really, I think this is a great solution for Aero getting the most out of her daily walks so I’m glad I found such a great backpack for her. Happy camping and hiking!
