Another Great REI Tent
The Big Agnes is another great REI tent. I think it's just about the perfect 4 person tent. It's got two doors for easy access and the front door has a welcome mat attached. It is very roomy and, unless you're over 6 feet tall, you can stand up in it. It also has a large poly-vinyl skylight so you can stargaze when you go to bed (very romantic).
Even though we are "tentally challenged", we still found Agnes fairly easy to put up. The only future problem might be the thin floor, since we sometimes pitch tents in the dark, not knowing what's on the ground like sharp twigs or shale rocks - we will purchase the "Footprint" ground cover before we go again, as a precaution. The tent fits snugly, folded up in the bow of the canoe but we haven't tried it backpacking camping yet. Due to it's size and the two doors, our large dog has no trouble either entering or exiting it or moving around at night without disturbing us. We also found the rain flies very effective if you extend them out and make sure they're angled away so, even if it pours, water doesn't spill back toward the tent. We found it very dependable in both wind and rain. This tent has really good ventilation, too, which I think will be much appreciated in the summer heat. It is expremely well made and has extra features like a loop inside to hang a light up. Very convenient. Although we haven't hiked with it yet, because it's fairly light, I would totally recommend this great REI tent as part of anyone's trail camping equipment. We're hoping to take it on an adventurous BC wilderness trip in the spring. If you want to check it out, you can find it here. Happy camping!
