Yippee! A Great New Rain Jacket For Some Wet Outdoors Fun

Posted by Vicki on Thursday, April 23, 2009, In : REI
So now, all is well for the 2009 outdoor hiking camping season. We did a thorough checkup of all our outdoor equipment gear and upgraded a few items that probably would have caused us some grief smack dab in the middle of a rainy and windy night, including a new tent etc. But Hey…speaking of rain - one thing that I did not pay enough attention to, was the rain jacket for me when we’re on the trail. Sure, I have the one I bought 4 years ago, but it’s starting to get tattered and ripped...

Outdoor Hiking With My New Hiking Shoes

Posted by Vicki on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, In : Altrec Outlet

Today I smelled the pines in a gentle breeze from the forest behind me and one thing popped up in my mind: I need new hiking shoes! Not hiking boots - but lightweight durable hiking shoes. We’ve been looking at various types of dog packs so she can get her much needed workout and at the same time carry her own water and food dishes, leash, coll...

As I came across our old camp stove, I remembered vividly the last time I used it. It’s flame was so uneven that it scorched my cook set and also the food. Yep, this poor old camp stove has certainly seen better days and is ready for retirement. After a bit of research, I discovered what I think is the perfect replacement. This ...

It’s spring folks - time to get out your convertibles! I must confess, I’m a great fan of convertible pants. I think they are perfect for all of my outdoor camping and outdoor hiking adventures. The latest find on my “must-have-pants list” is the The North Face Men’s Paramount Convertible Pant. These pants are made of a moisture wicking, abrasion resistant nylon fabric material. They come in sizes from Small to XXXL and are extremely comfortable and surprisingly affordable. Th...
