Have you ever been camping in the early spring or late fall and, after a few days, were just itching to get clean without freezing to death? I found a really cool piece of camping equipment that might just become one of my favourite things to bring cold-weather camping. It’s called “Hot Water on Demand” and it’s from Coleman. Everyone knows what great quality products Coleman offers. It’s compact and portable and it delivers hot water in 5 seconds! Can’t you just imagine getting back to your tent after hiking for a few hours and feeling sticky and grimy and then being able to have a quick wash up with lovely hot water. Heaven! This unit uses a standard 16.4 ounce propane cylinder and a rechargeable water pump that can produce up to 40 gallons of hot water per cylinder and per charge. Think how easy it would be to do the dishes after a scrumptious, but greasy, camp breakfast of bacon and fried eggs. A breeze. It would also be great to use to make a quick cup of tea or instant hot chocolate. This unit has a sturdy plastic casing with a handle for easy portability. This item might not be appropriate to use if you’re backpacking camping nor would it be a good piece of trail camping equipment, because it would be too heavy to carry on a long hike but, if you’re truck camping or car camping, I think it’s terrific. If you want to have a look at it, I found it at REI under a search for water heaters. Happy and warm camping!
