What? A wilderness recliner? Yes, I know, it sounds like a pretty bad oxy moron! But the fact is that you CAN include a recliner in your outdoor equipment gear! This elegant recliner is super comfortable because of it’s patented back support technology. It’s easy to set up, has a frame with a durable powder coat finish and weighs only 9 lbs. It’s called the GCI Outdoors Wilderness Recliner and it has an amazingly strong and tough aluminum frame, which will effortlessly support up to a 300 lbs outdoors enthusiast and has a seat height of 12”. The ideal uses for this recliner includes everything from wilderness camping to family road trips. It is easy to carry if you decided to participate in a sporting event or an outdoor concert. Or maybe even your son’s or daughter’s first dock-fishing experience. Since you carry it like a backpack, you can have your hands free to hold the heavy fish your kids caught - or the little hands of the little fishing pole operators. Who would have thought that outdoor equipment gear could include the ultimate comfort of an outdoors wilderness recliner but like Fonzie always said “Sit On It”!! I think you’ll like it.

Today I was reading through some promo material that I sent for last week. We have decided to do something we have never done before. We are going whitewater rafting on the Fraser River!! I know we will get a kick out of it and, after we’ve learned some useful information about how to have safe outdoors fun on the water, a river kayak is next on our wish list. But I know that first we need good PFD’s and, after looking through some ads on the web, this one looks pretty darn good to me. ... Continue reading...

So now, all is well for the 2009 outdoor hiking camping season. We did a thorough checkup of all our outdoor equipment gear and upgraded a few items that probably would have caused us some grief smack dab in the middle of a rainy and windy night, including a new tent etc. But Hey…speaking of rain - one thing that I did not pay enough attention to, was the rain jacket for me when we’re on the trail. Sure, I have the one I bought 4 years ago, but it’s starting to get tattered and ripped... Continue reading...

Today I smelled the pines in a gentle breeze from the forest behind me and one thing popped up in my mind: I need new hiking shoes! Not hiking boots - but lightweight durable hiking shoes. So over to the computer I went and lo and behold, the first hiking shoe that appeared on my search was the Merrell Women’s Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoe. These shoes are named Ventilator due to their ability to breathe and keep the foot cool and dry thanks to the mesh lining. These hiking shoes ar... Continue reading...

Here we go again, sorting through our camping equipment and hiking gear for our first real outdoor hiking trip of the season. Yey!! Back to camping in wild places! Because our dog Aero loves all kinds of physical challenges (and eats like a horse), to pack dog food around, we decided to get her a new dog pack to share the load. We’ve been looking at various types of dog packs so she can get her much needed workout and at the same time carry her own water and food dishes, leash, coll... Continue reading...

With summer just around the corner, I’ve been going through all our summer hiking gear and camping equipment, looking for items that might need replacing. As I came across our old camp stove, I remembered vividly the last time I used it. It’s flame was so uneven that it scorched my cook set and also the food. Yep, this poor old camp stove has certainly seen better days and is ready for retirement. After a bit of research, I discovered what I think is the perfect replacement. This ... Continue reading...

We’ve been on a mission looking for the perfect summer camping shirt. To me the perfect summer camp shirt is long sleeved (for protection from the sun and those pesky mosquitoes) but light and cool (so you don’t sweat and get dehydrated). After a bit of searching, we have finally discovered the solution to our quest. Even though this camp shirt is made out of tightly woven nylon and offers 40 UPF sun protection, it is moisture wicking, very light (2.4 oz) and dries extremely quickly. Wha... Continue reading...
