New Item #3 – choosing the best sleeping bag.  This was serious business.  There was a lot to consider.  We had to find the best possible sleeping bags to keep us toasty warm.  There is nothing worse than waking up cold in the middle of the night.  They also had to be light and east to pack.  We could choose one of the special cold weather mummy type bags or an old-fashioned rectangular type.  We need to be concerned about these sleeping bags weight as well. Although the temperature might hover around zero, we’ve decided to stick with the old-fashioned kind.  You see, Conny and I are both night furnaces so, if we buy two of these, we can zip them together and snuggle up, keeping each other warm.  With the added benefit of having a 90-pound dog at our feet, I think we will be just fine.   We will, of course, each have to get a good camping sleeping pad as well.  We were thinking of the Agnes sleeping pad but decided on the Insul Mat Hyper Mtn 1.0 Mattress Pad.  This pad has a self-inflating body core that will provide extreme insulation.  A good thing because, as this is a snow hiking trip, we will be camping in the snow.  So, after much deliberation we chose the North Face Allegheny BX sleeping bags.   This decision was a hard one because, if we’ve chosen incorrectly, we might have a couple of uncomfortable nights.  I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Anyway, what now?  To be continued…
