So now, all is well for the 2009 outdoor hiking camping season. We did a thorough checkup of all our outdoor equipment gear and upgraded a few items that probably would have caused us some grief smack dab in the middle of a rainy and windy night, including a new tent etc. But Hey…speaking of rain - one thing that I did not pay enough attention to, was the rain jacket for me when we’re on the trail. Sure, I have the one I bought 4 years ago, but it’s starting to get tattered and ripped and also starting to give me the clammy feeling when the fabric just isn’t that rainproof anymore and not breathing like it used to. The rain jacket I’ve chosen is called the Marmot Precip Rainjacket and the Dry Touch™ finish, eliminates the very clammy feeling I felt.  For the fashion conscious among us, it comes in 10 stylish colours, and it’s lightweight, very breathable and has a good fit. This rain jacket has a great hood design with full visibility, and the hood rolls up to a collar when the sun comes out again. Another plus for this rain jacket is the Dri Clime chin guard, which wicks away moisture, and feels soft against your skin. The Pack Pockets allows easy access even with my pack on and the double storm flaps are snug and secure with Velcro closure snaps. This Marmot Precip Rainjacket is also very easy to maintain – just toss in the washer with some Tech Wash (also from REI) and then in the drier on “low”. The result is a brand new looking rain jacket that also feels new again! So, bring on the rain. I’m ready for some wet outdoors fun! Are you? Come and pick your colour.
